On Thursday, I had my first appointment with a new GI guy. All went well. He seems knowledgable about genetic pancreatitis -- and wants to get more agressive with treatment after the baby arrives. Quite honestly, I've been putting off starting enzyme replacement therapy for about four years, but I think we'll get started after this little girl pops out and leaves my body with just one occupant.
Enzyme replacement therapy is pretty simple. I'll just take a pill before I eat every meal and the new enzymes will help my weak pancreas digest the food. It makes the pancreatic work load lighter, and some think, it helps lessen a patient's chances of pancreatic cancer (those with genetic pancreatitis are at greater risk).
I also learned that my blood pressure is creeping back up. My diastolic is back above 90 (92), but my systolic was still relatively low (for me) at 134.
We visit the OB and Maternal-Fetal Specialist on Election Day -- so we'll see what they have to say, but baby's growing and kicking regularly -- so I assume that all is well in babyland.
